A preflight safety briefing is about preparing everyone to act safely by making sure roles, hazards, signals, and procedures are clear. When roles are defined, each person knows who handles what tasks and who to follow during normal operations or an emergency, which keeps actions coordinated rather than chaotic. Identifying hazards ahead of time helps everyone recognize conditions that could lead to injury or equipment damage, so the team can take steps to avoid or mitigate them. Clear signals—whether verbal commands or visual cues—prevent miscommunication, especially in noisy or stressful situations, so people respond quickly and in concert. Established procedures outline the exact steps to take for safe boarding, securing gear, using safety equipment, and evacuating if needed; knowing these steps in advance reduces uncertainty and speeds safe, orderly actions.

So, this briefing’s purpose is to reduce risk by ensuring everyone understands how to act, what to watch for, how to communicate, and what to do in an emergency, rather than focusing on things like flight plans, seating assignments, or maintenance history.
